High performing teams exceed expectations as well as outperform all other similar teams, given the make-up of the team. This doesn’t happen by accident. High performing teams do the right things to get there. They have a laser focus on goals, they understand and support each other, and they communicate clearly and continuously. Human Edge Resources helps you define success for your team and then create a plan that will allow you to achieve superior results.
Team Start
Achieving clarity and agreement about your team’s mission, goals, roles and working processes are the driving principles that underlie Team Start, a key tool in the overall team effectiveness process. Team Start is a one-day quick hit (but not a quick fix) process that helps a new team to start or an existing team to get on and stay on the right track. Through facilitated activities, your team clarifies and agrees on a series of fundamental questions that are critical to efficient and effective team performance. Your team experiences positive team performance by reaching agreement on:
- Shared purpose.
- Key goals for the next three to six months.
- Collective work of the team including interdependencies, team roles and accountabilities, team support, team leadership, tracking progress/measuring results, operating agreements to guide behavior, conflict resolution and preferred means of communication.
Team Building
Team building is a planned effort to improve how well a group of people work together. It is most effective when used as part of a long-range strategy for organizational and personal development and usually begins with a specific activity, event, or experience followed by a plan to help ensure the positive benefits achieved become part of the day-to-day workplace environment.
First, our consultants work with you to understand and agree on the desired outcomes of the team building activities. Then, we design and facilitate the appropriate activities to help your team achieve the stated goals. Examples include structured activities focused on change, communication, problem solving, or creating energy and fun.
Team Effectiveness Process
Depending on where your team is in the team effectiveness process, we will work with you and your team members to uncover strengths and barriers to effectiveness. We will then create customized solutions that will support your team in achieving its stated goals. Activities could include such things as increasing team members’ capabilities in the areas of communication, influence, or change management; identifying “pain points” in the team process and helping the team find successful solutions; or helping the team clarify their responsibilities and determine how to make needed changes to increase their effectiveness and success.
Interaction Style® Profiler
The Interaction Style® Profiler is a self-assessment tool to help you identify your behavioral preferences. To be successful in critical business situations, both as an individual leader and as part of a team, it is essential to understand your own preferences and behaviors as well as those of others with whom you are interacting. When you can identify the differences in the way people behave and use that information to tailor your approach, you will be able to communicate more effectively, be a more productive contributor to your business, and be more comfortable handling challenging interactions. Interaction Styles® can be completed during an individual one-on-one session or as part of a team activity/workshop.
Myers Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®)
MBTI is an assessment for measuring one’s psychological type and identifying behavioral tendencies along four dichotomous scales: extraversion/introversion, sensate/intuitive, thinking/feeling and judging/perceiving. The theory of psychological type purports that what seems like random behavior is actually quite orderly and consistent based on the differences in the way individuals use their perception (how you become aware of things) and judgment (how you come to conclusions about what you perceive). When you understand your type preference and that of your team members, you can better manage your time, solve problems, deal with stress, make decisions, and engage with others by approaching all of these in a manner that best suits your style and the styles of others with whom you are working. The MBTI assessment can be completed as part of an individual one-on-one session or as part of a team activity/workshop.
DiSC® Personal Assessment
DiSC® is an easy-to-understand and effective personal assessment tool used to build productive teams, develop effective managers & leaders, help manage change and conflict, and enhance work relationships & productivity. The DiSC® assessment reports behavioral tendencies along four dimensions – dominance, influencing, steadiness, and compliance – and provides strengths and weaknesses of the related behaviors. With a common language and a better understanding of behavior, you can enhance your communications, better understand and adapt to differences in management styles and work more effectively with peers, team members, and direct reports. The DiSC® assessment can be completed as part of an individual one-on-one session or as part of a team activity/workshop.
